For the 31st daily installment of Big Wheel Blading’s Inline Skating and Life During COVID-19 series we talk to Jason Reyna. Jason is a 36-year-old inline skater and flight attendant from Dallas, Texas.
What rules has Dallas implemented in response to COVID-19?
Dallas currently has a shelter in place in effect with allowances for outdoor exercise.
Are you still skating?
I am only skating to stay in shape and explore.
Where are you skating at?
I’m just cruising the empty streets of downtown Dallas. Waving to people and even cops as I pass them by. A lot of people are kind of excited to see an in-line skater.
What would make you stop skating?
If it became a total lock down situation I would hesitantly stop. I would still probably cruise around my parking garage.
Are you doing any cross training?
I am also keeping up with my stretching and normal in home workouts. Push ups, squats, and stuff like that.
What other activities are you doing to occupy your time?
Honestly I’ve only been home a few days and been trying to relax. I’m a flight attendant and considered an essential worker. So with as much contact as I’ve had with the outside world I’m self distancing to keep my friends and family safe.
How has the COVID-19 affected your normal everyday life?
I mean… flights are empty. Hotels are empty. My local bar is closed. I’m not going out to eat, but still ordering in and picking up! Support your local business as best you can!
What are your major concerns right now and looking into the future?
Job security and the health and well being of my friends and family. The economical gravity of this has been heavy on my mind as well. I worry for my friends and family making it through this.
Are your fellow Dallas skaters self-isolating or are they still getting together and not social distancing?
Oh you know… some are, some aren’t, and some just are not understanding it all.
